Tanner's first Dr. that we had for Tanner's first 3.5 yrs of his life was this awesome gentleman. Unfortunately, he had to leave to another practice for reasons such as taking too much time with patients and not pushing them through. I know.. shame on my medical group. Anyway we were very sad to see him go and wished we could had kept him; however, we needed to stay w/ our group. We would often see this Dr. around town and often say hello and sometimes the run-ins would be a hug and a little peck sorta kiss, like a family member would give when visiting their home. That is exactly the way this Dr. thought of us too and he tells us this all the time, "You are my family and I will always care for you as such, just because I'm no longer your children's' Dr., doesn't mean I care less! " Dane and I have received his personal cell number when we would have our run-ins and he would always encourage us to call him if we ever need a Dr. after hours. Now, I'm sure most of you with young children know that personal Peds are impossible to reach after hrs and you have to deal w/ a nurse on duty these days.
Back to Cole's rash... I called this special Dr. because of his word to us and it was after 5pm. He is a man of his word! He had Cole come into him and the first diagnose was hives.. maybe allergic to Chlorine. Days went by and a call from the that Dr Sat morning came around and he's concerned about Cole and asking where we are at with the rash. Impressive! More creams were ordered and the new week came. Dr called again and requested that Cole see him again. Dr's words to me, " I'm not going to charge you for these visits and I'm sticking with this rash case to get your son better." Great! Now, here we go with some frightening news and made me freak out! Dr informed me that he wanted to play things safe and thinks maybe he could have Scabies. Oh! Dear!
Time still went by and rash still present.. no better... no worse... What could it be? Is he allergic to the bunny? Bunny named Sky* seemed to be the culprit, so Sky was sent to live in a different home and be with a different family. Sky is out of our home.. days went by... rash still present and not only is it on Cole, but Tanner wakes up with a similar rash from head to toe!
I'm now in a panic and thinking that maybe we do have a case of scabies.. could it be? The boys were now rushed into our regular Ped's office. She assured me that it was not scabies, it was Endo Viral Summer rash and it can last from 1 day to 8 weeks. Tanner had it for 1 day and Cole had it for 6weeks.
* Sky's new home is wonderful with a lot of little toddlers during the day hrs and a little girl and two wonderful boys all other hrs as she is now in a home daycare.
