1/30 MRI adventure

Round 2 of getting Cole to John Muir for an MRI.
The nurses in pre-op welcomed Cole w/ the same chime that Norm got on Cheers. He was a perfect little sprite doing everything with such familiarity. Every nurse that came around his vicinity would hear his request of, "I want juice"... remember that "happy" juice that he had an allergic reaction to. I was thinking...."Oh no.. not this time partner." The nurses knew of his allergy and would change the subject on him every time.
The anaestheciologist came and introduced Cole to the gas mask and put it on both Dane and I to make Cole more comfortable. He also let Cole choose a scent to smell while the mask would be on him. Cole had the choice of grape or watermelon. Cole chose watermelon. As he was rolled to the MRI, Cole kept asking for that watermelon.
Once we got to the MRI room, he was scared of the machine, I told him it was a robot and that it is a friendly robot. We went in together along w/ 6 staff surrounding us. I was on the MRI bed and Cole was on my lap w/ his back to me as they put the mask on him. As this was happening, I was looking straight at one of the workers, she looked so familiar; however, I couldn't ask her who she was because Cole was to keep calm and go to sleepy town. She looked at Cole and said, "I remember you, Cole." That confirmed that I must know this lady... to my defense, she was wearing nurse gear w/ a colorful hair cover and not to mention my stress at what was going on.... lol.
So time passed and this same lady approached me when it was over. I looked up at her and told her I knew her but couldn't place where from. She reminded me that our sons took karate together. OMG.. she was so fun to sit and chat with while the boys did their karate. Yolanda is her name. She and I talked about getting the boys together again. I got her number and will call her as soon as we hear about Cole's health. Cole came out of the anaesthetic w/ much rage, they told me it is normal when the little ones don't have the happy drug. The MRI team thought my being there before he headed to recovery would calm him down. No such luck... he was a very angry little guy. He screamed and thrashed himself around. Almost 40 lbs and very strong little guy! The recovery had an isolated room prepared, but that wasn't of much help. He tried to rip his IV out and was very upset. The nurses decided that he should just go home and believed that would make him most happy. They were right.... as soon as he had his own clothes on and sat in the wheel chair w/me he knew he was heading out of the hospital... He became as happy as a clam.
We got home and the rest of the evening was a very peaceful little guy. A little cuddle bug.
I was given the slides from the MRI and will be delivering them to my neurologist (Children's Hospital) this week. I hope to have an appt set soon to go over the findings. We are praying that it is nothing.
